Population of the Eurasian LynxThis Web page presents information on the population of Eurasian Lynxes. Population densities have been identified from 1 up to 19 cats per 36 square miles. The Russian population has been estimated to be 36,000-40,000 lynxes. The species was actually exterminated from most of the sub-region within the past 150 years in Europe, surviving only in the north and the east. Below 50,000 mature breeding individuals live in the US. |
